TALENTS

You can found people with some special aptitudes, abilities and talents but the key question is: are there people who are born with a special talent or they just develop a particular skill during their life?
If we look at numerous examples, we will understand that talent is innate.

Lets take a look to one of the most important writers in Colombia, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, with his master piece, 100 Years of Solitude, he created a new literature movement call Magic Realism  which gave him the Literature Nobel Award in 1989. The reason of why I believe his talent is innate is simple: Only writers can create an entire world from nowhere, to create stories, characters, places and situation that gives you another way to see the world, and the most important thing, you can see your self in their characters.

Some might say that this abilities are just skills that you develop in a period of time, but if you don't have the talent is really difficult to accomplish it. Garcia Marquez was not also a novel writer, he wanted to write screenplays and to work in the film industry, but unfortunately his vision of telling stories is really different of how you telling them in images, at the end he wrote just a few screenplays and he gave tutorials and help another filmmakers to get a really good story.

Perhaps we can found gifted people with unbelievable skills in some specific areas, like artistically and physical abilities but if we don't develop this talents you will not achieve what you want.

  1. It is an amaizing example of a innate abilities but I have read about some other exaples footballers, musician and authors and all of the attributed their success to their trainning and work that they have to made for be what they are now. So, as I´ve explained in my essay the talent is not enough they need motivation for learn and time of practice.

  2. Hi Adriana!

I really like your post and your main example of the Colombian author. I would like to say that i´m complety agree with your idea of how artistic sense cannot be developed without a natural talent, for sure a lot a practise helps to become even better than before, but without a real natural talent it could be almost impossible.

I would like to ask you: Do you have another examples about talented people who maybe don´t belong to a artistic field?

    Cheers,
